Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Junior Stenographer: Must have passed 10+2 / XII or equivalent and possess proficiency in stenography as per norms prescribed by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
Age Limit (as on 31 December 2025)
Age Relaxation
- SC/ST: Up to 5 years
- OBC (NCL): Up to 3 years
- CSIR Departmental Employees: No age limit (only permanent employees; not applicable to contractual/project staff)
- Widows/Divorced/Judicially Separated Women:
- Up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST candidates)
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD):
- 10 years (15 years for SC/ST, 13 years for OBC-NCL)

The selection process consists of:
- Competitive Written Examination
- Proficiency Test in Stenography (Qualifying in nature)

- Mode: OMR-based or Computer-based (Objective Type)
- Medium: English & Hindi (except English Language section)
- Standard: 10+2 / XII
- Total Questions: 200
- Duration:
- 2 hours
- 2 hours 40 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates

Proficiency Test in Stenography

Merit List Preparation
- The stenography test is qualifying only
